Happiness does not come from doing easy work, but from the afterglow of satisfaction that comes after the achievement of a difficult task that demanded our best – Theodore Issac Rubin
Some people come into success easily because they are given the tools they need to succeed. While others have to struggle to get there. I’d rather struggle because the battle to the top shows true character and heart. Many people give up, many dream, hope and pray for a break. That’s not me, the only way I’m going to see success is to focus and work for it each and every day. Every day spent in combat is an advancement to the top, no matter how small or how insignificant it may seem to others.
My entire life has been a struggle, but I’m blessed. Born in Milwaukee, WI and raised through DCFS in Chicago, IL my many sisters, brother and I struggled to survive. I had basketball dreams but monetary needs. Those needs led me to my first arrest and conviction in November of 2008. My second and longest came after a heavy street life led me to a home invasion conviction in 2010. This endeavor changed my whole perspective on life. Who I had become molded me, but it wasn’t going to break me. I had dreams of prosperity.
My struggle may be different than yours, but we are both waiting on that one thing that will make it all worthwhile……What’s your struggle?
